Introduction to OSTree

The OSTree package is for container deployment and the like. It is required by Flatpak-1.16.6.

OSTree Dependencies

Required

Fuse3 and GLib

Recommended

cURL and gpgme (required for Flatpak), libxslt, and elogind

Optional

Fuse2-2.9.9, GTK-Doc, libsoup, and libsoup3

Installation of OSTree

Install OSTree by running the following commands: 

./configure --prefix=/usr     \
            --sysconfdir=/etc \
            --disable-static  \
            --with-curl       \
            --with-soup=no   &&
make

Now, as the root user: 

make install

changes the view of a mounted root filesystem to an ostree deployment

uses Fuse to create a view where directories and files are immutable
